Overview
Each QQube Data Model is already configured for Power BI including over 5,700 DAX formulas in the collection.
The underlying tables are already linked with the proper relationships, the fields are understandably labeled, and appropriate formatting applied to all measures. No need to spend tons of man hours trying to reverse engineer the QuickBooks database.
In a typical data warehouse, there is only one way to attach the underlying tables.
Ensure you are on the most recent version of Power BI, and then open one of the examples to refresh the data.
Start with an Example
Open up the Configuration tool and highlight Microsoft Power BI under the Examples section. You should see a list of Power BI examples - at least one for each data model.
If you see a data model example grayed out, please review this guide on fixing synch errors.
Step One
Check the synch logs to ensure successful and accurate data extraction.
Step Two
Open up the example from the QQube Configuration Tool. It will open to a page with general instructions for:
- Refreshing your data
- How to handle the first time only password prompts
Step Three
Refresh your data
If you encounter any issues or error messages, you should again check to see that there are no synch errors, or that the correct data model was loaded as stated in the beginning of this guide.
Step Four
When you open the first example it may ask you for credentials, because Power BI won't use the built in passwords for the two DSN's we install. If it does:
- DSN Name: QQubeFinancials with password "Financials"
- DSN Name: QQubeUser with password "User"
QQubeFinancials is the "super user" and is used in financial summary and payroll analytics.
Once you have entered the credentials for both, it won't be necessary again.
Credentials
If you encounter any issues or error messages, you should again check to see that there are no synch errors, or that the correct subject was loaded as stated in the beginning of this guide.
