Pivot Table Drill Down Functions

Modified on Sat, 29 Jun at 1:40 AM

Overview

Excel uses a feature called Expand/Collapse, which gives Pivot Tables a 'dashboard like', or drill down capability.  For instance, you could look at all of your jobs in summary format, and then drill down to see certain details. In this example, the Item Names are all ‘Collapsed’ or 'Expanded'.

The Collapsed Items have a silver '+' sign, and the Expanded Items have a silver '-' sign.

There are several options for Expand/Collapse (right click on any cell in the column)

  1. The current item the cursor is positioned on
  2. For ALL items within the column
  3. For multiple columns
