Overview
These are settings we have used internally to create all of the Crystal Reports examples found in the QQube Configuration Tool.
To invoke, click on File>Options:
Layout Options
The first tab we suggest making changes to is the Layout tab.
One specific option which you will find helpful, is to remove the ‘Snap To Grid’. This gives you more pinpoint control, and Crystal is ‘smart’ enough to ‘lock in place’ if you align one field under another.
Font Options
The second tab we suggest making changes to is the Fonts tab.
OPTION | DESCRIPTION | SUGGESTED |
Fields | Items that you drag and drop into the details area of Crystal Reports (rows) | 7 or 8 pt |
Summary Fields | in 99% of the reports you create, you will provide a summary (e.g. sum of quantities, dollars). | 7 or 8 pt Bold |
Group Name Fields | Name of the group for which you summarize for (e.g. customer, item) | 8 pt Bold |
Text Objects | Field where you type in text | 7 or 8 pt |
Field Titles | When you drag a field in to the details area, the name of the field is automatically dragged in; the title can be changed | 7 or 8 pt |
Charts | Labels for charts | 7 or 8 pt |
We suggest smaller font sizes, because most reports require a minimum of 6 to 8 columns, and in order for them to fit on one page in portrait mode, a smaller font size is usually necessary. We also advocate 'clean' space between columns, which will improve the readability of a smaller font.
