Pivot Table Custom Column Names

Modified on Sun, 26 Jul at 4:11 AM

Overview

QQube field names are designed to be easy to locate in an alphabetical field list.

Some field names may be too long for the finished PivotTable, so Excel allows you to replace them with shorter, more readable column titles.

You can rename a PivotTable column in two ways.

Rename the Column Directly

1. Edit the PivotTable Cell

Click the column-title cell in the PivotTable and type the new title directly into the cell.

2. Open the Field Settings

  1. Locate the field in the PivotTable Fields pane.
  2. Right-click the field.
  3. Open the field settings.
  4. Enter the new label in the Custom Name box.

Field Names Are Not Changed in QQube

Changing the PivotTable title affects only the displayed label in the current report. It does not rename the underlying QQube field.

Expected Result

The PivotTable displays a shorter, clearer column title while continuing to use the original QQube field and data connection.
