Set QuickBooks Preferences

Overview

The Intuit Software Development Kit provides a fairly complete framework for the QuickBooks data extraction process - but there are also limitations and quirks which require a set of 'necessary practices' to avoid any potential synch or data accuracy issues.

Set Preferences

Login to QuickBooks as Admin in Single User Mode and check the following Preferences (Edit>Preferences).

Accounting Preferences (Company) - All QuickBooks Versions

  • "Show lowest subaccount only" must be UNchecked.   This setting is absolutely necessary for Financial Statements and there is no work around.  For all other data models, it is not necessary to change this setting.

Integrated Applications Preferences (Company) - All QuickBooks Versions

  • "Don't allow any applications to access this company file" must be UNchecked, or QQube (or any other 3rd party application) will be unable to connect to the QuickBooks file.

Report Preferences (Company) - For QuickBooks Pro/Premier Only

  • If you are using Assembly Items or Payroll, set the Reports & Graphs Preferences to 'Name only' for 'REPORTS - SHOW ITEMS BY'.  This is a global setting.
  • If you wish to run Job Cost Details, Payroll, or G/L Detail analytics using QuickBooks Pro/Premiere - you need to set the Reports & Graphs Preferences to 'Name only' for 'REPORTS - SHOW ACCOUNTS BY'
