Set QuickBooks Preferences

Overview

The Intuit Software Development Kit provides the framework QQube uses to extract data from QuickBooks Desktop. Certain QuickBooks preferences must be configured correctly to avoid synchronization failures or incomplete results.

Review these settings before connecting a company file to QQube.

Overview of the required QuickBooks preferences for QQube

Required QuickBooks preferences

Accounting Preferences — All QuickBooks Versions

On the Company Preferences tab, clear Show lowest subaccount only.

This setting is required for Financial Statements. There is no workaround. It does not need to be changed for other QQube data models.

Integrated Applications Preferences — All QuickBooks Versions

On the Company Preferences tab, clear Don't allow any applications to access this company file.

If this option is selected, QQube and all other third-party applications are blocked from connecting to the company file.

Reports & Graphs Preferences — QuickBooks Pro or Premier

Use the following settings when the related QQube analytics are required.

  • Set Reports — Show items by to Name only when using Assembly Items or Payroll.
  • Set Reports — Show accounts by to Name only when using Job Cost Details, Payroll, or General Ledger Detail analytics.

Expected result

QuickBooks is now configured to allow QQube to connect and extract the required data without the preference-related limitations described above.
