Overview
Review this checklist before installing QQube. These requirements help ensure reliable data extraction from QuickBooks Desktop.
1. Hardware and software
- Windows Server — 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2016, 2019, or 2022.
- Windows desktop — 64-bit editions of Windows 10 or Windows 11.
- Processor — 7th through 13th generation Intel Core i-series processor.
- Memory — 4 GB minimum for Single-User installations and 8 GB minimum for Multi-User installations.
- Storage — 350 MB for installed components. Allow up to 10 GB for the QQube Database.
- Microsoft Office — 64-bit Office 2016 or later for Excel and related components.
- .NET Framework — Version 4.8 or later.
Performance note: Intuit does not provide direct access to the QuickBooks Desktop database. A faster processor and sufficient memory can improve extraction performance.
2. QuickBooks Desktop
QQube supports the USA and Canadian editions of QuickBooks Desktop 2022 through 2024:
- QuickBooks Premier.
- QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions, including Silver, Gold, and Platinum subscriptions.
- QuickBooks Accountant editions.
- Single-currency and multi-currency company files.
QuickBooks installation and preparation
- Install the full QuickBooks Desktop application.QQube communicates through the QuickBooks client, not QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
- Activate QuickBooks Desktop. Activate QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.
- Confirm QuickBooks file integrity. Detect and resolve QuickBooks file corruption.
- Create the required QuickBooks users. Create connection users with full QuickBooks permissions.
- Set the required QuickBooks preferences. Set QuickBooks preferences required by QQube.
3. Multiple QuickBooks files
Extracting data from more than one QuickBooks file requires a QQube Multi-Company Add-On:
- Up to 3 QuickBooks files.
- Up to 10 QuickBooks files.
- Up to 50 QuickBooks files.
- Up to 100 QuickBooks files.
- You may combine supported QuickBooks files in the same QQube Database.
- Seamless automated extraction requires the same QuickBooks edition across the files, such as all Premier or all Enterprise files.
- The QQube trial does not limit the number of QuickBooks files.
4. Applications used with QQube examples
- Microsoft Access — Version 2016 or later.
- Microsoft Excel — Version 2016 or later.
- Excel Power Pivot — Excel 2016 or later.
- Microsoft Power BI Desktop — Current version.
- SAP Crystal Reports — Version 2011 or later.
- Tableau — Version 2022 or later.
5. QQube deployment
Single-User Edition
Install QQube while signed in as the Windows user who will use it. Do not install QQube from a separate administrator account.
- The Windows user must have administrative permissions during installation. Do not use Run as administrator.
- The installation cannot connect to a network where another QQube engine or implementation already exists.
- The Single-User Edition is designed for installation on a local workstation.
- A hosted Single-User installation may be approved only when the customer has one QuickBooks license. CLEARIFY handles these rare exceptions individually.
Install QQube Single-User on a local workstation.
Multi-User Edition
Important: Use one dedicated Windows account for QQube synchronization.
- No one should use the dedicated synchronization account to create reports or perform normal work.
- Each reporting user signs in to their own Windows account.
- The dedicated account isolates QQube synchronization from normal QuickBooks and server activity.
- Only one QQube synchronization account may exist.
- Configure the dedicated account to sign in automatically after a server restart.
- Place QBW32.EXE and QQUBESYNCHRONIZER.EXE in the dedicated account's Startup folder.
- QuickBooks should be open with no company file selected under the dedicated account.
Local network
Install QQube on the administrative console. The console may be locked, but it must not be logged off. This is where QQube is installed and where synchronization occurs.
Install QQube Multi-User on a local network.
Remote Desktop or hosted environment
Create a dedicated server user named qqubesynch. Grant temporary administrative permissions during installation and set the session timeout to never. This is where QQube is installed and where synchronization occurs.
Install QQube Multi-User in a Remote Desktop environment.
Why this is required: The Intuit SDK allows QQube to communicate with QuickBooks Desktop only through the QuickBooks client. It does not allow that communication to run as a Windows service.
