Advanced Database Administration

Overview

This section is generally for IT administrators and shows illustrations from QQube Version 10.x.

[1] QQube Engine Name

The default is set to the name of your machine and should be left alone.

[2] Database Path

The default path is "C:\Users\Public\Documents\CLEARIFY\QQube Tool\QQube.db" and should be sufficient for most installations. If you are running a QQube Multi-User version and you wish to store the database on another drive, then you might consider moving the database to a different location and browsing to the right path.

NOTE: locations must be on a drive that is physically located on this computer.

If you right click anywhere in the Database Path Area, you will also get four options:

  • (A) Creates a brand-new database to allow you to start from scratch
  • (B) Renames the current database.
  • (C) Moves the database to a different location on the SAME PHYSICAL MACHINE.
  • (D) Makes a zipped copy of your database on your desktop. Used if requested by CLEARIFY support or to archive a database.

[3] This is the Synchronizer Computer/Session

There can only be one Synchronizer computer or session on a network. Once installed on the server in a QQube Multi-User environment, it cannot be changed, without re-installing; this prevent other users on the server from checking this by accident.

[4] Disable Shared Memory

This is used in rare instances and should only be checked when instructed to by a CLEARIFY engineer.

[5] Advanced Server Options

This is most often used to control the amount of memory the QQube Database engine uses and should only be implemented when instructed to by a CLEARIFY engineer.  The example in the picture above is a "switch" that limits memory usage to 50% of available memory.

[6] Database Service Controls

The QQube Database operates best when run as a service and is automatically configured to do so when installed. It allows for seamless communications with other users on a network, and quicker communications with the applications in which you create reports.

The Database Service should not be confused with the ability to communicate with QuickBooks via a service.  The Intuit Software Development Kit does not allow communications in elevated mode.
