Database Server Not Found

Overview

You perform a new or upgrade install of QQube - and it shows to be successful.  Then you open up the QQube Configuration Tool and see this message:

Cause

  1. The upgrade was installed without full admin permissions.
  2. Corruption from a previous installation.

Resolution

Cause 1.

When installing an update two things are absolutely necessary:

  • You must be logged in as the same user where you originally installed QQube
  • You must have full administrative/machine rights (even if temporary just for the installation).  (Right click run as administrator will NOT work).

If you attempted to incorrectly install the update under the wrong user, you will need to uninstall from that user, and re-install correctly under the user where you originally installed.

Cause 2.

After clicking on OK on the window above you may get the following window where both the engine name and database path may be missing.  In addition, the database service is not started.

For the Database Path, click on the ellipse button to the right, and scroll to the current qqube.db (or qqube1.db, qqube2.db - which ever database is the current one, by date)

For the Engine Name, use regedit.exe to open up the registry, and scroll to the last previous version as shown in this picture.

You will see the Engine Name listed, as highlighted in pink.  Type that into the engine name (case sensitive).

Then click on Start Database to complete the procedure.

You will get an error message once you close the window.

Just ignore it and open up the QQube Configuration Tool Again.

It should come up without error.
