Overview
There are rare occasions where:
- Installing QQube produces many types of abnormal installation messages.
- Implementation Guides may not have been followed to the letter.
- Someone unknowingly installs a second instance of QQube on a server or workstation, under a different name than the original.
- Odd errors that defy logic.
These are the cases when a clean slate is needed to provide the proper platform to install QQube anew - which usually eliminates all errors.
Steps to Perform
STEP 1. Shut Down Processes and Uninstall from Control Panel with Admin Rights.
All users should have the QQube Configuration Tool closed. You can check the Task Manager (for all users) and end the task for qqubesynchronizer.exe and the QQube Configuration Tool.
If you know the original person under which the multi-user server was installed, then give that person full administrative rights, and go to the control panel, and attempt to uninstall. (The Task manager may give you a clue on this).
If you don't know, or it was recently installed under a particular user, then give that user full administrative rights, go to the control panel, and attempt to uninstall.
Chances are you will be successful with this step. If not, then proceed to the next step.
STEP 2. Stop and remove the SQLAnywhere17_QQube Service.
If the uninstall was successful, this step may not be necessary, but please double check. Again we want a clean slate.
Open up the Services App in Windows, and search for the SQLAnywhere17_QQube Service.
Very old installed versions may have a "12" QQube Service.
Stop the Service as shown here:
Then Open up a DOS window (Run as administrator), and type in the following command and hit enter:
This will delete the QQube SQL Anywhere Service.
STEP 3. Delete Directories.
You will have:
- Ensured that qqubesychronizer.exe is not running in the Task Manager for ANY user.
- Ensured that the QQube Configuration Tool is not running in the Task Manager for ANY user.
- Deleted the QQube SQLAnywhere Service
Then you can delete these directories, including all sub directories, and files:
This deletes examples, and old QQube databases. You will not keep any of these, as you will start from scratch to ensure a complete and clean slate. If you saved any of your own examples or reports in that directory, by all means move them to a different folder.
STEP 4. Delete Registry Entries.
Open up regedit.exe and delete the following keys and subkeys:
STEP 5. Ready to Re-Install with the correct documentation.
Now you are ready to install using the correct implementation guides:
Implementing QQube for QuickBooks
- Your QuickBooks file should already have the necessary users defined with proper permissions, to allow QQube to connect.
- You will be starting from scratch and using the Wizard.
- The reports you already built will work as is. Just open and refresh.
